Non Reflective Glass

Glare-less glass is made through etching acid one or more surfaces of the glass. The process allows the benefit of providing uniform, evenly diffused surfaces. Non-glare glass finds uses in many hi-res applications, because it disperses reflected light, so that a viewer can focus more easily on the transmitted image. You can get non-glare glass in different quality levels, ranging from picture frame quality to display quality.

 

Gloss reading on anti glare glass can range between 60 and 130 units. The lower this is, the more diffused the surface of the glass panel, and the less glares the viewer will have to put up with. But it has been shown that this could reduce the resolution of the transmitted image.

 

Features Of Non-Glare Glass

 

  • This type of glass has low reflection, high resolution, and higher durability.
  • The ‘low sparkle’ grade can be used for aviation display, military display, or other tech display purposes.
  • Non-glare glass can be heat tempered, laminated, or strengthened through chemical action.
  • Smudgy fingerprints do not cause it to become highly reflective, as opposed to anti reflective glass or untreated glass.
  • Non-glare etchings can be made on one or both surfaces of the glass.

This type of glass coating is suited for many intensities of ambient light, which should all pass through the surface instead of being bounced off it. The boosted transmission is important in LEDs and other displays. Coated on one or both sides, anti reflective glass is installed where reflections need to be kept to a minimum and surface glare needs to be cut down as well.

It also serves to offer enhanced contrast definition by cutting down reflection over a specific wavelength of incident light. Also removed are ghost images and multiple reflections. Some of the features of AR glass include:

 

  • High transmission & low reflectance of incident light
  • Enhanced contrast which delivers sharp, crisp images
  • Surface reflection reduced from 4% to under 0.5%
  • Can be applied alongside UV block coatings and surface enhancement coatings
  • Can meet different wavelength requirements based on intended application

 

AR glass coatings are usually used in electronic displays, optical lighting, and instrumentation windows, architectural windows, storefront and gallery displays, sight glass, etc. The coating itself can be applied to customer supplied glass, or added during initial fabrication.
